Hendrie's Soccer Academy is regarded as one of the premier youth soccer camps in the area. Founded in 1999 by Ron Hendrie, the goal of the camp is to provide an opportunity for the youth of our area to improve their soccer knowledge and abilities while having fun. We aim to deliver quality, cutting-edge soccer training in order to nurture the raw talent of both avid and emerging soccer players. 

 

For more than 30 years, Ron has brought his passion and knowledge of soccer to the youth of the area by coaching every age of both boys and girls soccer from U-5 to U-19. At the varsity boys level alone he has coached over 5,000 hours. As varsity soccer coach at North Salem High School since 1992, his teams have been Section 1 finalists 16 times, Section 1 champions 6 times, Regional champions 4 times, and New York State champions 2 times. Coach Hendrie has coached over 500 varsity games and is approaching 400 victories. Ron's article: "Thoughts On Coaching Youth Soccer" was featured across five pages in the Nov/Dec 2015 issue of Soccer Journal magazine. His article: "A Most Unlikely Motivator" was published in the May/June 2019 edition of the same worldwide distribution! 

 

Coach Hendrie has been honored as Coach of the Year 24 times. In 2008, he was named the New York State Coach of the Year, the United States Eastern Region Coach of the Year, and the United States National High School Coach of the Year by Adidas and the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America). Other related accolades include several Who's Who Among America's Teachers Awards and induction into the Brewster High School Athletic Hall of Fame.



Since 1988 Coach Hendrie has voluntarily worked with the North Salem soccer clubs to assist parent coaches looking for assistance with coaching or to advance their game. He has performed countless free preseason coaching clinics to get our clubs up and running as well as private team practices throughout the season to keep teams progressing. In short, Ron's passion for coaching lies in his enjoyment of working with people, giving back to his community, and helping develop the game. Hendrie continues to contribute to our community even though he no longer has children in our soccer program. 



Ron takes the teaching of soccer seriously, and to that end, he considers himself a student of the game. He continues to build his knowledge of soccer and coaching with numerous diplomas and coaching credentials including:

Coach Hendrie wants every camper to come away having raised their game to the next level while having a great, fun-filled experience at the camp.  To ensure this, he vets his coaches, only hiring knowledgeable, kid-friendly coaches who have demonstrated exceptional soccer ability and knowledge of the game.



Since 1999, the camp has been offered to soccer players from fourth through tenth grades.  In 2013 Hendrie's Soccer Academy expanded, offering campers as young as 3 years old a camping experience.  You can now send all of your children, from their pre-school years through tenth grade, to Hendrie's Soccer Academy for a truly customized camping experience which will leave them loving the game more when they leave than when they arrived.
